What does laughter do to your body?

Laughter for me is the quick escape avenue. It works wonders actually.

Here is a post to “Take laughter as serious as you would take tragedy, pain and hurt!.Start loving jokes and laughter .Give the same importance to it as you do to take care of yourself. For laughter takes care of your body and makes you look very beautiful day by day.

Do you know, a baby laughs 500 times a day, but an adult laughs hardly 15 times a day. Laughter declines dramatically as people age. Yet, we will have to realize its role and it’s benefits in our life.

Don’t just LOL!

Laugh out loud!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Laughter is the best medicine. Don’t forget to take your humour pill (I mean take time to laugh) everyday as you age. Many of you would have heard about Norman Cousins.

Norman Cousins (June 24, 1915 – November 30, 1990) was an American political journalist, author, professor, and world peace advocate. He was diagnosed with a rare, degenerative, invariably fatal disease, ankylosing spondylitis, a painful collagen illness that rendered him immobile and nearly incapable of moving his jaw.  It affects about one person in every one million people worldwide. His doctor and long time friend Dr. William Hitzig put it to him bluntly: only one of every five hundred people diagnosed with this affliction fully recovers. He was told he had only six months to live.

He felt so angry, frustrated and devastating when he was first diagnosed. He was angry with his family members, he cursed God for first three months and felt desperate. But after three months, he’d managed to shift his thoughts towards positivity to overcome his difficulty and desolation. To beat these odds, he quickly decided he needed to actively pursue why his body was reacting the way it was, and how to reverse the damage. He needed to restore his immune system. He just needed to figure out how.

He learned that negative emotions, such as frustration or suppressed rage, are linked to adrenal exhaustion. Therefore, Cousins assumed the opposite to be true, that positive emotions – love, hope, faith, laughter, confidence – would yield salutary results. However, Cousins knew that “putting positive emotions to work is nothing so simple as turning on a garden hose.”
His aim was to forget pain by being happy. For him to be happy, he started to watch everything funny he could. Therefore, the prescription before him was simple. Just to laugh off life. Much to everyone’s surprise, he cheated death. The result was clear. After several years of continuous laughter therapy, Cousins experienced little to no pain in day-to-day living. He relied on the often overlooked medication of laughter to mentally cure his condition and lived to the age of 75.He is the father of laughter therapy. This therapy is being followed now for cancer treatments as well.

“Hearty laughter is a good way to jog internally without having to go outdoors.” – Norman Cousins.

In bible, it is said that God blessed Abraham and Sarah with a son, when they were very old. Abraham gave the name “Isaac” to his son which means “LAUGHTER” .Sarah said, “God has brought me laughter and everyone who hears about this will laugh with me. God gave the gift of laughter only to humans.

No animals or birds can really express laughter, but they sure do make us and help us express laughter by playing with us and by their funny reactions. Your pets sure make you laugh your lungs out, your puppy, kitten, a penguin’s funny walk, a dolphin dance make you feel better . Isn’t it?
